Below Ground Waterproofing System for Car Park

Aquaproof Dual was chosen as the below ground waterproofing system to waterproof the internal wall of the new western extension of the car park ramp at Chadstone Shopping Centre. This extension of the car park had a curved lower ramp area that was partially below grade, therefore Aquaproof Dual was chosen to ensure that no moisture was penetrate this wall as this wall was built using blockwork on the external wall and had the Aquaproof Dual hung on the internal of the block wall, and then had shot-crete placed over the Aquaproof Dual to encase it.

Aquaproof Dual is a multi-layer waterproofing membrane consisting of virgin high-density polyethylene, bentonite and a protective layer of non-woven polypropylene. The tough HDPE membrane provides the primary waterproofing envelope while the expandable bentonite clay provides the self- sealing reassurance under hydrostatic conditions. It can expand up to 10 times its original thickness to prevent water that may make it past the HDPE layer, providing dual protection.
